Former Ragin’ Cajuns star Elfrid Payton agreed to a 1-year deal with the Pelicans Sunday night, according to ESPN.
The New Orleans native has spent 4 years in the league. Payton started the 2017-18 season with Orlando, before being traded to Phoenix. He averaged 12.7 points, 6.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds last year.
If the Pelicans don’t resign veteran Rajon Rondo, Payton could be a potential replacement at starting Point Guard.
