Press Release
YOUNGSVILLE, La. (June 30, 2018)- The bats are still swinging for the Acadiana Cane Cutters who took the series opener against the Texarkana Twins 13-2.
The win could not have been possible without the Cane Cutters’ pitching staff who produced 16 strikeouts and only allowed three hits. Five Cane Cutters took to the hill, starting with LSU’s Matthew Beck, who began the game with two shutout innings. Hayden Erbe (ULL) replaced Beck in the fourth, delivering eight strikeouts. The next three scoreless innings were thrown by Brice Armistead (Blinn College), Joseph Battaglia III (BRCC), and Marcus Olivarez (Lamar University).
The first run of the game came off the bat of Koi Westbrook (LSUE), who scored Cole Secrest (Lamar University) after he singled to begin the inning. The third inning saw five runs scored by the Cane Cutters, starting with an RBI double from Rhett McCall (Lamar University). An RBI single from Mason Corbett would score McCall for run number seven in the sixth, followed by more action in the seventh and eighth. The Cutters led the Twins 10-2 after seven, scoring the final three in the eighth.
The Cutters play one more game Sunday night before heading into the All-Star Break.
The Cutters will be back at Fabacher Field again tomorrow (7/01) against the Twins. It will be Spirit/Dance Night! Come out and see top dancers from the Acadiana area! The waterslide is free for all kids from 6-7PM. Gates open at 6 PM and first pitch is at 7 PM for all home games.
