LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana left-hander Colten Schmidt notched his second All-America honor of the year as he was named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Sporting Goods announced this past weekend.
Schmidt was honored as an ABCA/Rawlings All-America third team selection following a 7-0 season with a 2.45 ERA. The Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year, Schmidt registered 90 strikeouts in 106.1 innings pitched. Schmidt ranks fourth in the nation in both walks per nine innings and strikeout to walk ratio.
An All-Sun Belt First Team selection, Schmidt was tabbed to the Central-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team earlier last week. The La Porte, Texas native was also named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Schmidt is the eighth Ragin’ Cajuns player to be named a ABCA/Rawlings All-American since the 2014 season.
