Friday Night Football: Playoffs First Round

Posted
and last updated

Tonight marks the first night of high school football playoff action in Acadiana. Patterson High School heads to Iota to take on the Bulldogs of Iota High. It’s our game of the week—playoff edition.

Seniors on Iota’s football team this season started their careers as freshmen going 0-10. Tonight, for their first time in their high school careers, they’ll play in a playoff game, but the team on the other sideline is looking to make some history of its own starting tonight.

The Patterson Lumberjacks, led by sophomore quarterback Randy Paul, Jr., are looking to make a statement tonight with a win. Patterson has lost its first-round playoff game in each of the last 2 seasons. To do that, they’ll look to lean heavily on running backs Dontre Nicholas and Dajon Richard, who represent the essence of a Lumberjack team that’s had to fight hard for every one of its 6 wins this season.

As for Iota, tonight will be the Bulldogs’ first playoff appearance in a decade. KATC TV-3 will have a full wrap up of this game and hear from the winning coach tonight during Friday Night Football.

For scores of that game and others in Acadiana, make sure you follow our sports team on social media and tune into Friday Night Football tonight at 10:35 p.m.
