The City of Ville Platte has seen an increase in crime in recent months and Mayor Jennifer Vidrine says something needed to be done.
She and the Ville Platte Police Department recently introduced an app designed to get the public involved in solving these crimes.
Tip Ville Platte is an anonymous app that makes it easy for the public to report crimes in their area.
"They can text in any crime that they are seeing, being committed, or that they know about," says Vidrine.
According to the mayor, once you download Tip Ville Platte it's quick and simple to work.
Tipsters can even send in photos through the app that will go directly to police
Ville Platte Police get the tips in text form with zero information on the sender's identity.
The department will also be able to send alerts through the app to let users know when they need help solving a crime.
To download the app just go to the app store on your phone and search for Tip Ville Platte.
The public can also send anonymous tips via text message to the Ville Platte Police Department by texting the keyword TIPVP and your tip to 847411.
