Children of service members got a chance to stock up on school supplies before starting class.
The event is part of Service Saturdays, an initiative created in 2019 to honor veterans in Carencro and the surrounding areas.
Supplies were provided by non-profit organization Operation Homefront and were given out at Cajun Harley-Davidson in Scott.
Organizers say the giveaway is a way to make sure military families are taken care of.
"When you have kids, there's an added expense to your finances, so this really helps out with meeting the needs of those individuals that financially are unable to meet the needs for their kids," said Michael Edmond.
