Rebound: Planned big events

As the country looks to rebound, you may be wondering if big events this fall will feel the effects of COVID-19.

Experts say you should try to protect yourself now because not every venue or vendor will be willing to give up your deposit.

First, check your contract to see what the protocol is for cancellations or rescheduling.

If you're allowed to push back your event, be flexible with the dates and start planning as soon as possible, because there's a chance that events will pile up.

And if you can, add a force majeure clause, which protects your contract from unforeseeable circumstances beyond your control.

"Don't wait on your vendors to call you," said event planner Jennifer Troy. "Do it now while there is still the stay at home order. They may have a little more flexibility."
