As antibody testing for COVID-19 starts becoming more common, you might be wondering how much it will cost.
According to the Federal CARES Act, which was created to help pay for effects of the virus, the testing, telemedicine visits, and treatment including hospitalization, should be free.
Right now there are no restrictions on repeat testers, so if you get tested multiple times, it should be covered.
If you were incorrectly charged, you can still get reimbursed.
If you're uninsured, there's $2 billion additional dollars to cover your costs, but if the money runs out, there's no guarantee that you won't get a surprise bill.
If you have payment problems, call your insurance company.
Broker Bob McKnight explained, "I'm guessing there will be issues there - 'Oh, that was COVID-19,' but it wasn't coded the right way, things like that. This is new, not only for us but for the insurance companies. So I'm sure there's a learning curve."
