Rebound: Acadiana Legal Services offering free representation for those facing eviction

Posted
and last updated

Acadiana Legal Services is offering free representation for anyone facing eviction during the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the governor's order, landlords cannot evict tenants until Monday, May 18 - that's 12 days away.

An attorney for Acadiana Legal Services says now is the time to know your legal rights.

"If someone is renting a property and you think you won't be able to pay rent, the time is now to contact your landlord by phone and in writing," explained attorney Walter McClatchey. "See if you can get extra time to pay, or make other arrangements before you get a notice to vacate."

To learn your options, go to Acadiana Legal Services' website at la-law.org or call their office at 337-237-4320.
