Teachers, staff and their families have been working to get Comeaux High School ready for the new year.

The three day effort began on Monday on campus. Teachers and volunteers cleaned, painted, and landscaped areas of the campus that needed some fixing up.

Organizers of the Comeaux cleanup tell KATC that they wanted to show administrators that they are ready to welcome students back to school. They also say they support the work that LPSS has done and continues to do to keep them safe during the pandemic.

"With this upcoming school year and all the uncertainties out there, our custodial staff has been working extra hard to get our classrooms ready for our students to come back to school," explained teacher Carla Landry. "So our new administrator, Ms. White, set forth a vision and teachers got together, about 40 of us, to make that vision happen. To make our school the best that it can be for the returning of all of our students."

The group is expected to be out again on Wednesday to finish up the campus project. They were out starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending around mid-afternoon.
