The Lafayette Parish School System is providing more access to free internet with the addition of smart buses.
These smart buses are now located on campuses throughout the district and according to LPSS will provide a free internet signal to students.
In addition to each school broadcasting a continuous Wi-Fi signal, LPSS says that smart buses are located on LPSS campuses weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to extend that signal.
LPSS says that students needing internet service are encouraged to bring a device to wirelessly connect and complete online assignments. Signs have been put up on each campus.
- Students can go to any school to get WiFi access. They do not have to go to their base school.
- There will be cones to designated parking spots reserved for WiFi access.
- A schedule provided to students online shows times that campuses are opened and closed for gated schools
