The Lafayette Parish School System has adjusted their in-person learning schedule for elementary students.
The school system released an updated Return to School plan on Tuesday, August 18.
LPSS says that students in grades PreK through 5 will begin in the blended learning model and quickly transition to attending school in person five days a week.
According to the plan, students in grades 1-5 will begin daily in-person instruction on September 14. By September 21, all elementary school students will return to the classroom for full-time, face-to-face instruction.
Changes have also been made to the school calendar and magnet academy transportation.
This is part of the school system's Phase II learning. See the updated school plans, here.
Superintendent Irma Trosclair says that more classroom space has opened up since 30 percent of K-5 students are enrolled online.
The first day of school remains the same with a start date of Tuesday, September 8 for students on the B schedule (students with even number address) and Wednesday, September 9 for students on the A schedule (Students with an odd-numbered address).
