This summer, the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce is making things a bit more manageable for individuals wanting to start or relocate their business.

"So by developing this book it gives a step by step guide on how to start a business from scratch here with a really good foundation or to relocate from outside this community and have a strong foundation," said Raquella Manuel.

Relocating has proven to work for many business owners in St. Landry Parish.

"Right now, we are in Arpeggios Lounge, and what we see here and throughout historic downtown Opelousas is the revitalization of these buildings," she said.

The interest in the area is catching the attention of many for potential profit.

"We're seeing that in restaurants, in media were seeing it in so many types of industries and it's happening here in our community."

Even though COVID-19 is challenging business like never before, the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce says it's the perfect time to reorganize and adjust business plans. To make the process easier, the chamber is providing all the virtual assistance you need.

"To anyone who wants our information, we're bringing our members alongside us. We're doing virtual zoom meetings with multiple members communicating about different issues and different industries weekly."

The commerce also says you don't have to be a member to have access.

"Our membership director and business guide is totally free to the public, and we have 5,000 copies ready to go."
