Halloween is the time for kids of all ages to dress up in fun costumes. One hospital in Florida doesn’t want their littlest patients to miss out on the Halloween hoopla, so staff members engage in a fun holiday tradition to bring some joy to the families of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Each year, the NICU staff at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare dresses up the babies for their first Halloween. The team takes the time to make costumes for the infants and then they do a special photoshoot to show off some of the world’s most adorable babies.
“Our NICU babies are so cute, it’s spooky,” the hospital shared on its official Facebook page.
Dressing up these bundles of joy is a way to give the babies’ parents a sense of comfort and cheer even though their children are in the intensive care unit.
“Bringing the Halloween fun to these little ones and their parents are just one of the many ways our team works to normalize the NICU environment and keep families’ spirits high,” Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare NICU said in a statement. “Our crafty NICU night team created the costumes, and our day team helped bring their visions to life.”
Although none of these babies is old enough to trick-or-treat, the hospital staff made sure their first Halloween was filled with sweetness.
For example, how “berry sweet” is this baby dressed up as a strawberry?
And what’s Halloween without some candy? We love this bundle of Almond Joy!
You can’t have an Almond Joy without a Mounds bar nearby, right? The NICU staff was on top of things with this baby’s costume.
If you love M&M’s, then this cutie pie will definitely melt your heart.
A few of the babies were transformed into other kinds of irresistible treats.

There were some non-food-related Halloween costumes, too.

Dr. Seuss would love these two little “Things.” We sure do!
Tinkerbell has some competition with this beautiful little fairy.
Perhaps this mer-baby is swimming in dreamland.
And finally, we agree with the NICU staff that this child is too stinkin’ cute. A skunk was the only choice for a costume.
Each one of these precious gifts to the world has already made this a happier Halloween for all of us.
