Fathers day is two days away do you know what you're giving your dad yet?
From remote control cars to planes and helicopters to plastic models you can build together, when you're buying Dad a toy you're buying quality time together and maybe even a new hobby for him. Big Boy Toys and Hobbies in Lafayette has all the right items for this.
"We have a bunch of Fathers Day gifts that are out of the box. They're all things dads can do with their children which I think is really cool to have a hobby you can do with your kids," says Jeremy Truxillo, who owns the store.
An experience gift from Pack and Paddle is also a great idea.
"We do on site rentals on the Vermilion where you can put in at Heymann park and take out at the Camelia bridge, and we shuttle all of the boats for you and one of the ways you can get that gift for your dad is to pick up a store gift card," says Amy Dupuis, who manages Pack and Paddle. She adds that you might as well accessorize dad for these outdoor excursions as well.
"I have some really great sun protective clothing and hats that just add on to that new hobby they have. Doing some long sleeve to keep the sun off of you."
If the way to your dad's heart is through his stomach, so why not take a reese's cake baking class and bring home the finished product?
"This is an awesome opportunity especially for someone who doesn't know how to bake or decorate a cake. Come on over, do one themselves, and then have something really awesome to present to dad the next day," says Rachel Noel Cox who will teach the class Saturday at A Bakers Choice.
If you plan to head to the mall, some easy department store gifts are a new fragrance, a shaving kit or a grooming kit for a beard, a new upgraded wallet, or a nice frame to put a photo of the family on his desk.
No matter what you plan to buy your dad, always include a handwritten card.
