LAKE CHARLES, La. – Nurses from Texas traveled to a Lake Charles hospital to transport their NICU babies to safety ahead of Hurricane Delta’s landfall.

CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System says its NICU Transport Team made its first of three trips to pick up the newborns Thursday.

About 10 babies will be transported and will continue to receive the treatment they need at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas - St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Before the babies were transported, a chaplain led a prayer with hospital staff, praying for their safe travels.
