The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for an alleged thief they are calling "The Grinch who stole after Christmas."

In a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page, they say the woman seen in the photo with a "naughty" Santa hat edited on her head, entered the Bayou Vista Walmart on Thursday, December 26, at around 4:54 pm. Deputies say she gathered around $3,000 in merchandise, then “ran a scam” at the register and left with the merchandise.

"We would like to speak with this person about this situation," the post states.

If you have any information on the identity of this person, contact the SMPSO at (337) 828-1960 or send us a message here on Facebook. You will be kept anonymous.

Along with the "Naughty" Santa hat, the department created a poem in the style of Dr. Seuss's "The Grinch" which details the incident. Read that below:

How This Grinch Stole AFTER Christmas

A woman thought hard about getting stuff at the store,
and the idea that if she could scam, then she could get MORE!

She thought about products, She thought about hacks...
She got a plan to steal products out the store in some sacks.
And she puzzled and puzzled 'till her puzzler was sore.
Then she thought of something she thought no one had before!

"This might work,” she thought, “I’ll scam all this stuff.
I won’t pay a dime of money, and that will be enough!”

So she got her plan ready and went to a local store,
She grabbed all her stuff, she got stuff galore!
Three thousand bucks of products she put in her buggy
Then played her scam at the register and looked really smugly.

She got out the door, for it seemed her plan worked so well.
Oh the story of her heist that with smug pride she would tell!
Except one thing that her plan didn’t cover,
That camera at the door, the camera with no lens cover.

That camera that took her pic as her plan she was running
That picture that we now see while she thought she was cunning.

While all the shoppers were shopping and paying with cash
She was scamming and leaving the store with a 3K stash!

Now all the local shoppers say that this is just not fair
“While we paid with cash, she scammed with thin air!”
When she sees this post, she will say “I’m not a crook.”
But that’s ok lady, CAUSE YOU ALL OVER FACEBOOK!!
