ST. MARY PARISH, La. - The Baldwin Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a Baldwin woman.
On October 21, 2020, at 12:48pm, the Baldwin Police Department responded to a call in reference to a woman who had been shot by her husband in the 100 block of Newman Street, according to Asst. Chief Samuel Wise III, spokesperson for the Department.
The daughter of the victim and the suspect informed authorities that while she was going to check on her mother who was not answering the phone, she had noticed her father, Sonny LeBlanc Sr., riding a bicycle in only his underwear in the 200 block of Main Street, stated the spokesperson. LeBlanc told his daughter that he had shot his wife, Sandra LeBlanc.
Sonny LeBlanc Sr., was located near Dixon Funeral Home on Main Street in Baldwin and was taken into custody by authorities, stated Wise.
He was arrested on a charge of second degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
