A 26-year-old passenger was killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 347 in St. Martin Parish.
The crash occurred around 11:00 pm near Claton Castille Road and claimed the life of Chayce Gobert of Breaux Bridge.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of 2018 Honda Accord, in which Gobert was a rear passenger, crossed the center line of the highway and was struck in the northbound lane by a 2018 Ram Pickup.
Troopers say the driver of the Accord was attempting to turn onto Clayton Castille Road when the crash occurred.
Gobert was not restrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries, according to State Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the Accord and Ram were properly restrained and suffered minor injuries.
Impairment is unknown at this time, but toxicology samples were taken from the drivers for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
