A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 19, to celebrate the completion of the I-10 widening project between Henderson and the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
DOTD says the $54.7 million project involved pavement replacement within the existing lanes in each direction for 2.7 miles along I-10 from La. 347 to the base of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
An additional lane was also added in the westbound direction.
The ceremony will begin at 9:00 am at La Rumba located on Grand Pointe Hwy. in Henderson.
DOTD Secretary Dr. Shawn Wilson and other local and elected officials are expected to speak on the project's completion.
Work began to widen the Interstate in May 2017 and was completed in December 2020. DOTD says that a total of $10 million in FASTLANE funding was allocated towards the completion of the project.
