The former Chief Administrative Officer of St. Martinville is retiring.
Mayor Melinda Mitchell says Shedrick Berard turned in his resignation letter Wednesday after working for the city for 33 years. In his resignation letter Berard says, " It is time for my life to take a different course. Today, I will be officially retiring."
Berard's announcement comes days after he was suspended for three days for not making a public apology to two police officers for comments he made to them during a previous meeting.
In April of this year Berard resigned as CAO following questions of how the city's money is being handled. Berard returned to his previous position as safety and zoning administrator.
"I would like to thank you for the opportunity you gave me," said Berard, " After God comes my family and they have finally convinced me that it is time to retire."
