Washington man accused of attempted murder

OPELOUSAS, La. - The suspect accused of shooting a man in July is now behind bars.

Adrian Rayon Powell, 23, of Washington, was arrested on attempted murder an multiple other charges and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on a $168,000.

On July 10, 2019, the victim who stated that he and two other people were standing outside of their residence when a Jeep pulled up and several individuals exited the vehicle and began shooting in their direction, according to Eddie Thibodeaux, spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.

As the victim attempted to run inside the residence, he was shot in the lower left leg. A vehicle that was parked at the residence was also struck by a bullet.

Detectives recovered twelve .40 caliber casings from the roadway in close proximity of the address and observed several bullet holes in a window and an inside wall of the home, stated Thibodeaux.
