An Opelousas man is facing an aggravated cruelty to animals charge after police say his dog died after being left in a hot car.
Police say Byron Badeaux left the dog inside the car around 5:30 a.m. Sunday while he allegedly went inside Evangeline Downs to gamble.
While gambling, police say Badeaux forgot that his dog was inside of the vehicle. When he walked outside around noon, he noticed the dog was dead.
Badeaux was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
