The City of Opelousas Tourism Department and the Celebrate 300 Commission unveiled a newly painted "Boxed Art" project on Wednesday.
The mural is located at the corner of Bellevue and Main Streets downtown and is designed by Opelousas native Rebecca Henry.
Henry's work is the fifth "Boxed Art" project in Opelousas.
The "Boxed Art" project transforms basic traffic boxes into canvases and aims to "enliven community space while showcasing the talent of artists in our community."
It's just one of the activities included in Opelousas' 300-year celebration this year.
Henry says she hopes to inspire later generations with the achievement.
"What I'm doing is to leave a legacy for my children and my grandchildren, and let them know that you can do anything that you want to do," Henry explained. "You just have to be consistent and just be true to yourself."
The city is hoping to transform a total of 10 boxes over the next two years. The first box was unveiled earlier this year at the intersection of Wallior and Vine and Landry Streets.
