Opelousas police are investigating a shooting that occurred just after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of S. Union St. and Franklin St.
Officers say upon arrival at the scene, they found one male victim suffering from several fatal gunshot injuries lying in the roadway.
First responders attempted life-saving measures before transporting the man to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Investigators are actively speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in the area.

KATC spoke with the family of the victim while at the crime scene. They didn't want to speak on camera, but tell us they are at a loss for words, know who did this, and simply want justice.
