An Opelousas man died in a Saturday night crash, police say.
Edgar Forman, 59, died in the 9 p.m. crash near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Landry street, a spokesman said.
The crash happened after a short pursuit of Forman's vehicle; police tried to stop it after the vehicle allegedly ran a stop sign and almost hit another vehicle at Park Avenue and Fern Street, the spokesman said.
The vehicle sped away at high speed and failed to stop for any traffic controls, including red lights and stop signs, and crashed into a building, the spokesman said.
Forman sustained fatal injuries, he said.
Impairment is suspected and toxicology results are pending. No one else was injured during this incident
