OPELOUSAS, La. — Opelousas High School has canceled its last two football games due to COVID-19.
The St. Landry Parish School Board announced that a student athlete on the OHS football team had tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday.
The board says that, out of an abundance of caution, they have quarantined the remainder of the players and coaching staff as they complete their contact tracing protocols.
The board says that parents are being contacted as well.
Student athletes are under quarantine for 14 days.
OHS was suppose to play Breaux Bridge on Friday.
On Friday, Loreauville High School announced it canceled the next football games because of multiple positive COVID-19 cases.
The board also confirmed that one adult tested positive on Saturday at Northwest High School and has been quarantined since Sunday. However, no students and no other adults have tested positive there since then.
