Investigation leads to seizure of guns, drugs

OPELOUSAS, La. — An arrest has been made in a crime featured on St. Landry Crime Stoppers after tips and information were sent in to deputies.

According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, after numerous complaints of drug activity and shootings in a trailer park located on Highway 90 in the Eunice area. After surveillance and numerous tips, a search warrant was obtained for the home of Magraff Favors.

During the afternoon of October 21, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Team along with the parish SWAT Team traveled to Eunice to search the residence, vehicles, and a camper owned by Favors.

As law enforcement arrived, Favors noticed the police units and ran towards the rear of his residence, Guidroz said. After a short foot chase, Favors was taken into custody without incident.

The sheriff says deputies found marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, and opioids, along with a scale, a handgun, a rifle, and ammunition.

Favors is facing multiple drug charges and firearm charges.

"I would like to thank all of the concerned citizens for calling in and submitting tips regarding the suspected drug activity in this area," stated Sheriff Guidroz. "If anyone suspects any type of criminal activity in their neighborhood, call your local law enforcement agency to voice your concerns or submit your information anonymously to Crime Stoppers."
