Eunice man arrested in ambush-style shootout

A man who was shot during a shootout in Eunice has been arrested.

EUNICE, La. - A man who was shot during a shootout in Eunice has been arrested.

Brandon Ndubueze, 21, of Eunice, was arrested by Eunice Police Tuesday and charged with four counts of attempted second degree murder and simple criminal damage to property.

His charges stem from the Saturday ambush style shootout that occurred on Townhome Drive in Eunice, according to Chief of Police Randy Fontenot.

Ndubueze is accused of approaching the Townhome Dr. residence and opening fire on individuals outside of the home. He was injured by return gunfire and fled the scene and hid in a wooded area near the home. He was located by officers a couple of hours later and transported to a hospital for treatment to his injuries, stated Fontenot. He was arrested following his release from the hospital.

Ndubueze has been booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
