Boyd Gaming has notified the state of hundreds of layoffs at Louisiana properties, records show.

The Las Vegas-based company operates five casinos in Louisiana, and reported layoffs at each one, state records show.

All of the layoffs take effect on July 1.

Here are the numbers:
Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino (Shreveport) 414
Treasure Chest Casino (Kenner) 340
Amelia Belle Casino (Amelia) 170
Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel (Vinton) 354
Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino (Opelousas) 246

Our media partners at The Advocate obtained the letter about Evangeline Downs, and you can read it, and their story, here.

"Like many businesses across the country and in our industry, Boyd Gaming has been significantly affected by COVID-19 and the mandatory closures of all of our properties since mid-March. Because of mandatory closures, guest limitations imposed by various regulatory authorities, and overall economic conditions due to the pandemic, Boyd Gaming anticipates that it will conduct permanent layoffs that may impact between 25% and 60% of team members at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino located at 2235 Creswell Ln, Opelousas, LA 70570. For some team members who are not laid off, we now reasonably expect the current furlough may last longer than six months from the date it began," the letter states.
