The St. Landry Parish Council has appointed Jessie Bellard as interim parish president in a special meeting held today. That's according to councilman Dexter Brown.
Bellard is stepping in after St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot announced a week ago that he's stepping down because of health issues. You can read that story here.
Bellard has worked for parish government as an administrator for many years, under the parish's first Parish President, Don Menard, and for Fontenot as well.
