On the morning of June 16, the Opelousas Police Department began investigating a shooting at 613 W. Martin Luther King Drive in Opelousas.

Following an investigation, it was uncovered that the shooting was a result of a dispute between Boxie and Singelton who both were in a relationship with Savoie.

Singelton had allegedly taken issue with an altercation that occurred between Boxie, Savoie, and Boxie’s girlfriend. On the morning of the shooting, police say Singleton and Savoie confronted Boxie at his home where he was allegedly shot by Singleton.

Friday, the two were arrested on Rue Joubert Road in Opelousas where Savoie and Singleton lived.

Singleton and Savoie will be booked with the following charges:

1 count of Second-degree murder

2 counts of Attempted Second-degree murder.

Opelousas Police held a press conference on Friday. KATC's Chris Welty was live on Facebook during the announcement of the arrests.
