Showers and storms to wrap up the work week

It has been a very hot spring so far, March was the second hottest on record, and April so far hasn't been much different with temperatures well above the seasonal norms.

This trend will continue on Wednesday with the chance for our first 90 degree heat index day, the raw thermometer will hit in the upper 80s by the late afternoon.

Skies will be a mixture of sunshine and cloud cover, with a little more sun than clouds.

Acadiana's forecast becomes a little more interesting by the weekend with a few different systems moving through the area, the first of which will push through Thursday night.

Thursday's round of weather may include a case or two of severe weather, while the chances will be higher to our west one or two of those stronger storms could spill across the state line from Texas.

If we do see any strong storms moving in the main issue is going to be hail and wind.

It'll be a wet weekend with showers starting late Saturday and continuing through Sunday which may produce several inches of rain across the region.

Be sure to stay tuned to KATC for the latest.
