Former professional basketball player made a stop at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Wednesday and was sworn in as a reserve deputy.

The sheriff's office announced their newest deputy later Wednesday afternoon, saying that the star stopped by while Sheriff Becket Breaux was out of the office at an annual training.

He was officially sworn in as a St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Special Reserve Deputy.

"Thank you for your kindness, support, and encouragement you provided to the Deputies," a post on Facebook reads. "It was very much appreciated. Welcome to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Team!"

O'Neal has received reserve commissions in other jurisdictions, including a previous commission with the Lafayette Marshal's Office.
