NEW ORLEANS — The quarterback matchup New Orleans Saints fans have been dreaming about for the last month will take place during the first week of the 2020 National Football League regular season.

Drew Brees and Tom Brady will face off in Week 1 when the Saints host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That's according to Nick Underhill with NewOrleans.football. The NFL will officially release the full 2020 schedule during a three-hour primetime special on ESPN.

Brady, the six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, signed with Tampa in April, leaving the New England Patriots in free agency after spending 20 years in Foxborough. Brady, 42, and Brees, 41, are the two all-time leading passers in NFL history. Brees leads in that category by a little less than 3,000 yards (77,416 to Brady's 74,571).

Assuming the full season is played and both Brees and Brady remain healthy, they will face each other a second time later in the season when the Saints travel to play their division rival.
