Water pressure issues are being felt across Acadiana, including in the City of Opelousas. The water remains on, but city leaders are urging people to conserve.
The pressure issues caught some business off guard.
At the Holiday Inn Suites in Opelousas, guests found little to no water pressure in their rooms Wednesday night.
"Once they complain then we have to research and verify the information then we find out that there's no water then they want a refund,” hotel general manager, Fantazia Minix explained.
It's not just at the hotel, the problem is city-wide.
That's why Mayor Julius Alsandor is calling on the city to stop running water, unless absolutely necessary to help build up water pressure.
"If we don't do this, then we're going to be in this situation much longer than we all want to."
The mayor understands people are worried about their pipes bursting, but says conservation is key.
"Turn one faucet on and let it drip every five seconds or so but if you turn on every faucet, the ones outside and the ones in the house you're using a large amount of water that will lower the amount of pressure throughout the city."
Back at the holiday inn, managers say guests are being urged to conserve water to help with the city-wide problem.
"Everybody stay patient, stay calm. Just give it a couple more days. By Friday we'll be out of this and we'll be back to normal."
The mayor is asking everyone to conserve water for at least the next two day to rebuild the water pressure in the city
