Walmart and Rouse's, among several other grocery stores nationwide, will temporarily adjust their operating hours to better serve their customers in response to the novel coronavirus.

Starting Sunday, March 15, Walmart stores and Neighborhood Markets will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. until further notice.

Also starting on Sunday, Rouse's will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in all stores until further notice.

The new hours will "help ensure associates are able to stock the products our customers are looking for and to perform cleaning and sanitizing,"said Walmart CEO Dacona Smith in a statement on their corporate site.

Walmart stores currently operating under reduced hours will keep their normal hours. The store has also implemented a temporary COVID-19 emergency leave policy for associates.

Rouse's echoed Walmart's statement, saying the hours "will help us keep our shelves stocked and help ensure our customers can secure the products they need as quickly as possibly, while allowing our team members who are able to come into work the time to safely restock the shelves and clean the store in the manner it needs to be."

"I could not be prouder of our associates and what they continue to accomplish for our customers. I don't think any of us have been through an experience like this, and we continue to be amazed at what our people, whether in the stores or in the supply chain, are doing to make sure customers have what they need," added Smith.
