General Mills announced today a voluntary recall of 5 lb. bags of Gold Medal brand Unbleached All Purpose Flour.

The recall is only for bags with a better if used by date of September 6, 2020.

The Package UPC for the recalled bags is 016000 196100.

The recall is being issued "for the potential presence of E. Coli which was discovered during sampling of the five-pound bag product."

General Mills says they have not received any direct reports of confirmed illnesses, so the recall is simply out of an abundance of caution.

Consumers are asked to check their pantries and dispose of the product affected by this recall.

The FDA says that while most strains of E. coli are harmless, this particular strian, E. coli O26, is a potentially deadly bacterium.

Any consumers concerned about an illness should contact a physician.
