A Lake Charles man was arrested Wednesday after state police say he filled two trash bags with money from a casino and fled.
State Police say 35-year-old Horace J. LaFleur was seen exiting the casino's gaming floor with the trash bags by troopers investigating a theft in progress.
LaFleur allegedly attempted to elude troopers and security officers by hiding in a storage container in a nearby parking lot.
A security officer was reportedly able to secure a door to the storage container which prevented LaFleur from escaping.
Troopers apprehended LaFleur and he was taken into custody.
During questioning troopers say that LaFleur allegedly admitted to damaging a box containing money and removed an undisclosed amount of cash and other items of value from the casino.
The money and items were recovered at the scene.
LaFleur was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center for felony theft.
