The Louisiana Football Coaches Association is looking to see if there is interest among coaches in moving the high school football season into the spring.
A poll, obtained by KATC Tuesday night, asks coaches their thoughts on the possibility of moving the season. Coaches were asked about their level of interest in four ways: Proceed as normal, modify schedule or delay, reduce the total number of games, and interest in swapping seasons with other sports.
Tuesday, the Advocate's Kevin Foote wrote an article exploring the idea of moving the season, reigning in a topic he even contextualizes as "floating around." But the LFCA poll gives more credence to it.
An Acadiana area football coach said Tuesday night that he doesn't see any way for the season to go on as scheduled.
Restructuring the football season is a far less radical idea, and was explored in the coaches poll, too. The conversation has began boil weeks into the voluntary practice period as several parishes have now shut down practices as players test positive for the coronavirus.
