Saturday in St. Martinville, the Cajun Creole Cookers demonstrated how to cook and bake in a dutch oven.
Club members were on hand to answer any questions. Attendees were able to sample a variety of dishes cooked in dutch ovens.
"What you cook at home, we cook over here. So you go buy groceries, depends on what you want to cook. We talk about it, like this afternoon we had a little meeting, see what we're going to cook as the main meal and we cook around that. We figured this year we'd make a New Year's dinner - black eyes, cabbage, pork roast, the whole nine yards," said Joseph Hebert, Commissioner of the Cajun Creole Cookers.
The demonstration took place at the Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, located at 5400 Levee Road.
The club hosts a demonstration on the first Saturday of each month except for May, when they attend the state meet. The group is a chapter of the Louisiana Dutch Oven Society.
