Bayou Teche Brewing is offering another South Louisiana concoction that is sure to turn some heads.
The brewers have partnered with Tony Chachere's to create the brand new "Gumbo Stout," a combination of beer and gumbo.
Bayou Teche Brewing says that adding gumbo to the beer gives the beverage a "roasted and smoky flavor, with a hint of caramel accentuated by salt, cayenne and black peppers."
"You could say it's the Cajun version of the Mexican Michelada … spicy, savory and thirst quenching," said Brian Broussard, Bayou Teche Brewing's Brewmaster. "Gumbo Stout plays off of the savory flavors of Tony's Creole Roux with a nice, back-of-the-throat spiciness that traditional gumbo spices provide."
The new beer will launch on Saturday, November 2 with a celebration at Bayou Teche Brewing.
Tours of the brewery, live music from 3 - 6 pm, and a Gumbo Stout tasting will round out the launch. Tony’s Creole Cruiser will also be on hand serving up samples of gumbo.
Gumbo Stout will only be available for a limited time at local Louisiana retailers.
