St. Landry Parish held its inaugural Legislative Appreciation Day at the Opelousas Civic Center on Tuesday.
The event was hosted by JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates). Representative Dustin Miller and Senator Gerald Boudreaux were special guests at the ceremony.
The group works towards advancing education, careers, and productive adulthood for 7th through 12th graders.
Susan Mouton with the JAG program explained, "We want to get the word out that we are preparing students to be college and career ready. We're preparing them to be workforce ready, so this program is very important for St. Landry. It's building a strong workforce for our parish."
