GRAND COTEAU — Following the recent closures and cancellations in Acadiana, numerous couples have had to postpone their weddings.

With orders already in, a florist in Grand Coteau is passing out those flowers that cannot be used.

Dawn Chiasson Mouton, with The Flower Barn is asking passers-by to look for her or stop in to her shop.

Mouton has received requests on her shop's Facebook page. Some suggested donating to nursing homes or assisted living homes but unfortunately Mouton says they will not allow her to bring in flowers because of coronavirus concerns.

Others have also requested bouquets while others just thank her for repurposing the flowers for free.

While the flowers won't be used for someone's wedding day, she hopes the can at least brighten this one.

"Hopefully these blooms can bring a little brightness to this storm!" Mouton said.
