A Port Barre High School student was hospitalized today after allegedly overdosing on THC-laced gummy bears, police say.
According to Police Chief Deon Boudreaux, police recieved a call this afternoon in relation to a student at the high school that had possibly overdosed.
Boudreaux said when officers arrived, the student was conscious, but had an elevated heart rate and was disoriented and confused. The student was transported to a local hospital, but has since been released, Boudreaux added.
The incident is still under investigation, but Boudreaux could tell us that juveniles were involved, and police know the student got the laced gummies from another student.
Boudreaux said arrests are pending until more information becomes available, hopefully by tomorrow.
