The St. Jude Walk/Run was held today at Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the fundraiser was held to raise money for families to help with the costs of St. Jude.

The St. Jude run was a giant success, raising a total of $107,427 - their goal was $90,000.

The run began this morning at 8:30 a.m. and Wayne Toups performed at 9.

Emcee Patrick Hardy said that the day was perfect - "we couldn't have asked for better weather." The run boasted over 700 attendees.

He said that in Louisiana, there are more than 800 families that are depending on St. Jude's for care.

Hardy explained how special the event is to families across Acadiana and Louisiana.

"It's very special. To listen to some of the patients at St. Jude to tell their story. You get to see the fruits of the labor."
