A Broussard family is working to rebuild after a house fire this morning on Hanchey Street. The family of five was woken up by their dog Bandit, and were all able to safely escape. They suspect the cause was electrical in nature.

Both parents are Acadiana teachers. Laycie Fanguy is an arts teacher at David Thibodaux STEM Academy; Daniel Fanguy teaches social studies at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy. Their three children (15 year old boy, 11 year old girl, 8 year old girl) are also students at the schools.

Family members have set up a GoFundMe to help with immediate needs.
