A rally will be held Saturday afternoon in Lake Arthur in memory of George Floyd and to protest police brutality.
Organizers were friends of Floyd's, who grew up in Lake Arthur and visited the town many times for family reunions and other events.
The rally will start at 4:00 p.m. at Lake Arthur Park Uptown.
Today's event is to be part protest, part celebration of life, organizers say. They hope to shed light on police brutality and injustices black men face.
"We just pray that everybody keeps the focus and not stray away from it. Know that we need to bring justice but let's just do it the right way for him," said Duhon.
