Tonight, the city of Jennings is getting in the holiday spirit with their Winter Events celebration.
The celebration took place in Founders Park from 6 - 8 p.m. In its fourth year, the free event got its start when Milton and Jannie Crochet wanted to do something for the community during Christmas.
The first year, they hosted the event in their backyard. It has grown larger with a new addition each year.
This year, the City of Jennings and four churches in Jeff Davis Parish are helping the Crochets with the event.
There's live music, hot chocolate, burgers, and soft drinks. Proceeds go to local youth ministry groups.
Santa also made an appearance, along with the Grinch and characters from Frozen.
A hayride took visitors down Main Street, where they stopped at the Methodist church to watch a short film. The hayride then made its way to the Catholic church for a live nativity scene.
The couple hopes to put on the event annually.
"My mom used to do hot chocolate for the youth. They would do caroling around. And so, it was like, man, that would be so nice to just start doing something like that and just to hear the people come out and say 'this is so wonderful,'" said the Jannie Crochet.
