The 69th Annual Delcambre Shrimp Festival has wrapped up
The event began Wednesday, and ended today.
Sunday's festival events began with a 10 a.m. Fisherman's Mass at the Shrimp Festival Building, followed by the traditional blessing of the shrimp fleet. The fair opened at 11 a.m. and lasted until 4 p.m. today.
The Festival began in 1950 as a fundraiser for the Delcambre Fire Department, and was known back then as the Iberia Parish Shrimp Festival and Agricultural Fair.
"This year was the best year. We have a good mayor. She cooperated with everybody in here. Everything came to a real good end," said resident Mark J. Broussard.
